WHAT IS IT? -- "Build A Backpack" is a partnership between Communities In Schools of North Carolina and 138 Walmart stores to provide school supplies to thousands of students in need across the state.
HOW IT WORKS-- Between July 17th and August 21st, customers can enter a Walmart store in Cumberland County and make a monetary donation of $1, $5, $10, or any amount they choose at the registers and/or leave donated school supplies in designated bins located in each store.
At the end of the drive, Communities In Schools of Cumberland County will pick up the items in the bins and the cash donations, which will be converted into walmart gift cards. Communities In Schools will then distribute the items to those students in need in Cumberland County.
